Capelco to award outstanding BAPAs
ROXAS CITY – The Capiz Electric Cooperative (Capelco) will award the outstanding Barangay Power Associations (Bapa) for 2007 in the upcoming 33rd annual general membership assembly on August 23 at the Capiz Gym here.
The assembly with the theme "Continued Commitment to Service and Excellence" aims to update its member-consumers on the cooperative's progress and plans for development.
Capiz Gov. Victor A. Tanco will be the gathering's guest speaker.
Based on records, the cooperative has 610 operational BAPAs from the province's 473 barangays.
The Bapa was instituted during the early years of rural electrification to help the electric cooperatives strengthen member-consumer awareness and involvement in the efforts to achieve financial viability of electric cooperatives through the reduction of system loss and increase in collection efficiency and to fortify institutional consciousness in the grassroots level.
An Awards Committee has been created for the assembly to determine the BAPA awardees classified into five, ten and fifteen years consecutive class "A" based on their performances and accomplishments last year. (PIA/A.Lumaque)
