DTI says lifting of 60-day price freeze did not give much headache
The Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) on Tuesday said that it did not have much headache as expected after the 60-day lifting of the price freeze following the declaration of the state of calamity by the provinces in Panay island.
DTI Regional director Dominic Abad said he's glad that so far, no formal complaints have been lodged in their office against unscrupulous businessmen seemingly taking advantage of the lifting of the price freeze last Friday, Aug 22.
He said that it's good that the manufacturers also abided by the provision for the price freeze on areas under calamity that the DTI did not have to worry much about.
"The commodities are now being sold on their regular prices," Dir. Abad said.
He also said that because of the lifting of the 60-day price freeze now, the DTI personnel have started to conduct their monthly regular price monitoring in the provinces and weekly price monitoring in the city of Iloilo.
But Abad still cautioned the consumers to remain on guard so they couldn't be taken advantage of by unscrupulous businessmen. (PNA)
