LNB executive board gives go signal for Liga special election in Panitan
ROXAS CITY – The executive board of the Liga Ng Barangay (LNB) - National has finally given a go signal for the Liga ng mga Barangay in the municipality of Panitan to hold a special election.
In a two pages resolution obtained by The News Today, the Liga Ng Barangay sa Pilipinas executive board approved a resolution authorizing the chapter to conduct special election to elect their president and other officers.
Provincial Liga President Clemente "Budong" Firmalino said the chapter is now preparing for the holding of the special election as soon as possible.
The Liga election held in November last year was declared a failure by the Department of Interior and Local Government (DILG) Municipal Local Government Officer (MLGO) for lack of quorum.
To recall, Tingcupon Barangay Captain Richard Dadivas and his 13 supporters were present during the election however, supporters of Incumbent Liga President Ignacio Deocampo were absent prompting the DILG to declare a failure of election for lack of quorum.
Deocampo, who was then temporarily elected as president, is serving as head of the Liga in Panitan.
Firmalino together with Dadivas requested the Liga national to authorize the conduct of a special election in Panitan.
