San Joaquin coco trees 'off limits'
No government-prescribed "Permit to Cut" shall be granted on any individual or entity out to cut coconut trees in the Municipality of San Joaquin, Iloilo . As such, all coconut trees here are "off-limits" as allowed by the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA).
In fact, the Municipal Ordinance recently passed sealed just that and not an "exemption" that allows cutting minus said government-prescribed "Permits To Cut."
The clarification was made to correct earlier news article here in The News Today (TNT).
Backed by a circular of the Philippine Coconut Authority (PCA), the prohibition was further laid down in Municipal Ordinance No. 9-2008.
Presented in Thursday's special session, the Ordinance is now pending before the Committee on Agriculture chaired by Fourth District Board Member George Demaisip.
Municipal Ordinance No. 9-2008 declared all coconut trees in the territorial jurisdiction of San Joaquin as "productive and or capable of rehabilitation through fertilization."
As such, the coconut trees here shall not covered by a permit to cut allowable under PCA Circular No. 02-2008.
