Iloilo has a bright future in the information technology (IT) industry with the entry of several call center companies here.
Iloilo Economic Development Foundation (ILED) Vice Chairman Antonio Jon said, all that Iloilo needs is to translate the opportunity to positive action in order to maximize the borderless opportunities of the IT industry.
In yesterday's Iloilo IT Investment Forum, Jon said they are getting "very positive reviews on Iloilo's potential as IT hub from credible authorities in the industry.
"We have joined IT conferences, exhibitions and discussions to make known our stake in meeting the demands of the global community," Jon said.
Jon said this year's theme, "Building Our Future in IT" very well describes cooperation between the academe, government and private sectors in the industry. The IT week has progressed from being just an advocacy event to a serious campaign for investors to look at what Iloilo can offer to investors.
On the other hand, Gov. Niel Tupas Sr. said the investment forum on IT comes in appropriate time where Iloilo is "building its niche on this particular field."
Tupas said Iloilo has a lot to offer in the area of information technology. "Our rich and ample human resources provide a strong backbone to the needs of the industry. Our information technology infrastructure is continuously upgraded to meet the global standard," Tupas said.
The concerted efforts of government, academe, business community and the IT players through Iloilo federation for information technology (IFIT) provide environment to interested IT investors, said Tupas
The Iloilo provincial government will continuously collaborate with the city government and the business community to provide a better investment, said Tupas.
