Appointment of new administrator for Bacolod Boys Home assailed
BACOLOD CITY -- Executive Assistant I Alex Coloso of the City Mayor's Office was appointed by Mayor Evelio Leonardia as the New Administrator of the Bacolod Boys Home, a home established for orphaned and abandoned boys in the City of Bacolod.
However, Coloso's appointment was questioned by Fr. Fernando Peralta, executive director of the Bacolod Boys Home Foundation.
Mayor Leonardia designated Coloso as administrator of the Bacolod Boys Home since it is a project of the City of Bacolod and not a project of the Bacolod Boys Home Foundation as insisted by Peralta.
The Bacolod Boys Home was formerly managed by Fr. Grattian Murray for how many years. Peralta took over after Fr. Murray died more than three years ago.
Peralta was a former staff of Don Bosco College in Victorias City prior to his assumption as Chaplain of the said institution.
Peralta earlier proposed a Memorandum of Agreement (MOA) with the City of Bacolod but it was not acted until now. Under the draft MOA, the Salesians of Don Bosco-South Philippines where the Boys Home belongs will have the authority to determine the personnel and staff that would be employed based on the qualifications and criteria set.
The Boys Home will likewise account the yearly appropriated funds and donations received from the City of Bacolod for the operating expenses, food provisions, upkeep, maintenance, structural development and all other expenses of the Boys Home.
The initial MOA also speaks that the policy to enforce, guidelines, and rules and regulations proper is under the administration and supervision of the Boys Home.
It was established that during the time of the late Administrator Fr. Murray, the City of Bacolod appropriated funds for the support of the Boys Home.
Last year the City allocated P3 million for the maintenance of the institution. Coloso is a former head of the Bacolod Sectoral Concern Office under the Leonardia administration.
