Capiz environmentalist plant tress in Panitan
ROXAS CITY – A mutli-sectoral group headed by the Capiz Provincial Task Force on Environmental Protection chaired by Board Member Rommel Lastimoso planted some 3,000 seedlings of trees on Friday, September 12, at Brgy. Salocon and Brgy. Bahit in Panitan, Capiz.
Lastimoso, who also chairs Committee on Environment and Natural Resources at the Capiz provincial board, led the tree planting activity with representatives from some government agencies concerned about environmental protection.
This year's theme is "Let's cool the Earth! Plant/Grow Trees for Legacy". Panitan Mayor Katherine "Kit" Dequina Belo and General Manager Pablo Bercilla of the Metro Roxas Water District (MRWD) also joined the activity.
Also a ceremonial tree planting was conducted beside the Panay river bank where the MRWD treatment plant is located and it was attended by Roxas City Fire Department led by Pancho de la Cruz, Philippine Coast Guard, Philippine National Police, 1st Engineering District led by Engr. Julius Abela, Provincial Government, Department of Agrarian Reform and among others.
