Estancia cops arrest teen-murder fugitive
Town's 2nd 'Most Wanted' man bare notorious past
Intensified intelligence and surveillance work paid off for operatives of the Estancia Police office following the arrest of the town's second "Most Wanted" fugitive.
An alleged member of a "gun-for-hire" syndicate, arrested was 19 year-old Arturo Vasquez alias Turing. His capture was by virtue of an arrest warrant for murder issued by Judge Rogelio Amador of Branch 66 in Barotac Viejo, Iloilo.
"He was cornered but resisted arrest by drawing his gun in an attempt to shoot it out with the arresting team," Estancia Mayor Restituto Mosqueda in a news release said. "He was finally subdued with corresponding force. Recovered in his possession and control was one .357 caliber revolver, Smith and Wesson Magnum with six live ammunition and without any pertinent documents."
As such, Mayor Mosqueda said, additional charges for illegal possession of firearms, resisting arrest and alarm and scandal are being readied against the teen-murder suspect.
Yet who is Arturo Vasquez? Reported revelations disclosed to probers stated how he was allegedly recruited by another "Most Wanted" of the town, Boy Salmorin. Their group purportedly became the private armed group of Estancia's former Mayor Rene Cordero.
"Introduced into the art of liquidation of alleged notorious criminal elements (allegedly Red Scorpion Gang members)….was with the group and witnessed the liquidation of a certain Ensoy Dula and Oguk…."excerpts of the "Revelations" went.
Vasquez' arrest was hailed by Mayor Mosqueda who gave credit to the town's police force.
"The sustained operations and vigilance of Estancia's law enforcement is made possible through the continuous patronage of the Provincial Governor under his Peace and Order program," the mayor added.
To date, a total of ten suspected gun-for-hire gang members have been reported "neutralized" under the leadership of Senior Superintendent Ricardo dela Paz. Dela Paz is the provincial director of the Iloilo Provincial Police Office (IPPO).
The ten were Jimmy Dollete, Larry Mallorca, Lodovico Consumo, Roger Palma, Benito "Boy" Salmorin Jr., Dennis "Totong" Cartagena and Bernabe Alkonga all detained at the Iloilo Rehabilitation Center (IRC). Killed were Rex Consumo and Edgar Cordero.
