2 dead, 1 missing in Antique sea mishap
Two persons including a 13-year old boy drowned after a passenger boat sank in Valderrama town in Antique on Sunday.
Search teams are still looking for another passenger who remained missing after the passenger boat "River Crosser" was swept by strong currents at the Cangaranan River, according to reports of the Office of Civil Defense in Western Visayas and the Antique Provincial Police Office.
Valderrama is 56.4 km northeast of the capital town of San Jose.
The fatalities were identified as Edman Alejo, 13; and Clarita Viaje, 64. Their remains were recovered in the neighboring towns of Patnongon and Bugasong.
Another passenger, Nila Alejo, remained missing while three other passengers were rescued.
The boat was on its way to Barangay Bugnay from Barangay Tigmamale when it sank due to strong currents brought by heavy rains.
In Caluya town, Antique, 76 passengers and 25 crew members of the motor boat Banton 7 arrived safely in Caluya after the big waves damaged one of the boat's outriggers after it left Libertad town on Sunday, according to a report of the Coast Guard Western Visayas District station.
