Cerebral Combustion
Chances are, Sen. Mar Roxas will
I am not interested in politics but I am constantly intrigued by politicians. It appears that each of them is a spectacle that is almost at par with celebrities we so fondly see unfold before our eyes, fronting an extensive gamut of sentiments, emotions, quandary of agendas and variety of unreserved expressions of ambitions. Politics in this country is like a puzzle and the politicians we have are the shattered pieces we cannot often solve in one piece. Obviously it is not really the people who cannot put the pieces together but the politicians themselves. They are cracked by their own political ambitions that instead of helping to create the picture in one piece, politics is divided into a kaput of crooked elements of disorder.
It is fascinating for someone who does not vote to watch presidential wannabes start to remind the rest of the country that the election for the "chosen one" is near. The Senate has dramatically turned into an arena of warriors defending the so-called truth and equality in transparency and it is obvious why these particularly random expose' suddenly become a national issue of somebody's grave act of graft and corruption among others and against each other.
Senator Mar Roxas was in town last week and while he talked about transparency in the recent "budget insertion" issue and eliminating graft and corruption in one of the network's local morning show, it is obvious that he too has his eyes straight to the bull of running the two year mile towards becoming the next Philippine president. He neither confirmed nor denied the possibility of doing so but he certainly talks the talk and walks the walk.
It is but early to assume that among the aspiring candidates Sen. Mar Roxas is one viable to contend with the rest of the hopefuls. But of course, his rise towards political stardom is undeniably not a factor to be easily dismissed due to the fact that when he ran for the Senate, he not only won but topped the race with a whooping 20 millions votes. An unmatched record in the history of the Senate I am sure he is proud to keep should he wish to run miles longer.
The end result in our political environment is always late for us to realize whether who we have chosen to rule over this country is for boon or bane. I personally have firmly gripped the hands of Senator Mar Roxas as a greeting but I was surprised to feel that he was more a human being than a human politician. Except for the presence of Governor Tupas who was with him that morning and a considerable number of entourage; his own presence only required a few necessary commotions and I wonder in a sullen predicament if it is a good thing or the opposite. For one, his aura is not as stern and grave as that of Senator Panfilo Lacson who we know also does the talk and walk somehow humorlessly and perhaps life threateningly to become the sole commander in chief of the Philippine republic. And one that I noted interestingly is that he too; I feel lacked an earnest audacity and boldness in life experiences and character that Sen. Manny Villar possesses. But of course, Sen. Mar Roxas cannot also be denied of his eagerness to help protect the national interest of this country and the people's welfare. However the question is, aren't all politicians say they want to do the same thing?
It would have been a pleasure to strike a personal conversation with Sen. Mar Roxas or any politicians for that matter. Given the intricacies of politics and the negative connotations that politicians are tailed with, I am sure each of them would have a variety of answer to that query.
