Nabitasan Elem School still No.1 NAT performer
For two consecutive school years, the Nabitasan Elementary School maintained its title as the top performing elementary school in the Division of Iloilo City with 85.40 weighted Mean Percentage Score (MPS) in the recent National Achievement Test (TEST). Five new elementary schools came out in the top 10.
In the recent NAT, the Nabitasan Elementary School ranked number one with 85.40. In the 2006-2007 NAT, it has a weighted MPS of 85.39.
The Tabucan Elementary School ranked second with 82.71 MPS; (3) Hibao-an Elementary School 82.24; (4) SPED-ISEC 77.58; (5) Molo II Elementary School 76.96; (6) Navais Borres Elementary School 75.20; (7) Sto. Domingo Elementary 74.52; (8) Ticud Elementary School 73.76; (9) Mandurriao Elementary School 73.62 and (10) N.J. Ingore Elementary School with 73.45 MPS.
In the 2007-2008 NAT, Molo II Elementary School; Sto. Domingo Elementary School, Ticud Elementary School; Mandurriao Elementary School and N.J. Ingore Elementary School were among the public elementary schools that emerged as new top 10 NAT elementary school performers.
If there are top 10 performing elementary schools, there are also top 10 lowest performing schools. However, Division officials requested not to make public the name of the public elementary schools that performed low in the 2007-2008 NAT,
In the over-all Division summary by five learning areas such as Filipino, Math, English, Science and HEKASI, the average MPS of the Division of Iloilo City dropped from 64.79 to 60.07 MPS in 2007-2008.
The Division has proposed several interventions to increase the NAT performance for school year 2008-2009. The interventions include intensive supervision of classes; conduct of intensive remedial instruction and enrichment activities to identified pupils in Grade VI during vacant periods; conduct of training-workshop during Saturdays and development of instructional facilities.
They also recommended intensive conduct of mentoring mentors program; evaluation of all Division initiatives, programs and projects; intensive conduct of supplemental feeding program; improving home-school collaboration and conduct of make up classes during Saturdays for those schools affected by Typhoon Frank.
