1st Capiz Dance Season kicks off Sept. 27
ROXAS CITY – The first Capiz Dance Season will be launched by the provincial government in coordination with the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA) on September 27 at the Provincial Park here to promote Capiznon dances and talents.
The launching of the activity dubbed "Saot Capiz" will be graced by Shirley Halili Cruz and Marichu Pellano, NCCA's Head of Committee on Dance and Chief of Plan/Policy Formulation and Programming Division, respectively.
The show also aims to document Capiznon dances and establish Capiz Provincial Park as an alternative performance venue and artists' village. It is the highlight of the Capiz Tourism Week celebration from Sept. 21 to 27 with the theme "Tourism: Responding to the Challenges of Climate Change".
"After the launching activity, there will be performances featuring various dance companies from the municipalities and schools in the province every Saturday at 6 o'clock in the evening from October 4 to December 27," said Provincial Tourism Officer Alfonsus Tesoro.
The dance season will culminate with a "Grand Binayle" on Dec. 30.
The various performing dance groups that will be featured every Saturday at the Provincial Park include Dagway Sigmahanon, Inc. (DSI), Capiz National High School Dance Troupe, Tapaz Cultural and Performing Arts (TCPA), Colegio dela Purisima Concepcion (CPC) High and CPC Dance Troupe, Filamer Christian College (FCC) Dance Troupe, Capiz State University (CapSU) Main Dance Troupe, Hugyaw Dance Troupe of CapSU Burias, Mambusao campus, Tribu Kasaydahan of Pilar, Caguyuman Dance Troupe of Pontevedra, Sapian Dance Troupe, and Sinadya Dance Troupe of the Department of Education (DepEd) - Roxas City Division.
