Western Visayas honors 'Dangal ng Bayan' semi-finalist
The Civil Service Commission (CSC) 6 recently honored the region's sole semi-finalist for this year's Dangal ng Bayan Award, Search for Outstanding Public Officials and Employees.
The Dangal ng Bayan Award is part of the CSC's Honor Awards Program conducted annually to recognize and reward state officials and employees for their outstanding contributions and achievements in the delivery of public service.
Specifically, the Dangal ng Bayan Award is given to an individual for performance of extraordinary public service and consistent demonstration of exemplary ethical behavior by observing the 8 norms of behavior provided under Republic Act 6713, otherwise known as "Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees."
P/SInsp. Gilbert Tanchuan-Gorero received his certificate of recognition from Presidential Assistant for Western Visayas Dr. Raul Banias and CSC 6 Director Rodolfo Encajonado in simple ceremonies held at SM City Mandurriao, Iloilo City, September 22, 2008 as part of the 108th Philippine Civil Anniversary celebration.
P/SInsp. Gorero is currently the Chief of Police of the San Jose Police Station in the province of Antique.
Some of his highlighted accomplishments included the Creation and Mobilization of Salaam Police which gave authority to our Muslim brothers with the equivalent function of Barangay Tanod to maintain peace and order in their neighborhood with the supervision of the local police.
Gorero was also known for his efforts in the organization of the Citizens Crime Watch that led to Zero Crime incidents of theft/robbery in their locality, Oplan Sambanat (Kampanya Kontra sa Droga), Oplan Sagip-Gubat (Environmental Protection and Preservation Program), Oplan Sagip-Anak (Rescue of Minors from Houses of Prostitution), Oplan Pag-ulikid sa Mal-am (Caring for the Elderly) and the Campus Police in Antique National School, San Jose.
Under his leadership, the San Jose police force through Sanag KKK program (San Jose Nagapanguna Katahum, Kalimpyo kag Katawhay) led the people in maintaining a clean and orderly municipality that earned them a Gawad Pangulo Award. He also lobbied for the establishment of "Bahay Silungan" (Home for streetchildren).
Last September 19, President Gloria Macapagal Arroyo led the conferment of awards for the 2008 Dangal ng Bayan awardees in a ceremony held in Malacanang where she hailed the accomplishments of these faithful and hardworking civil servants. (PIA)
