700 apply for PNP Attrition Recruitment Program
Police Regional Office 6 receives for evaluation around 700 applications for Police Officers 1 (PO1) position under the 2nd Phase of the PNP Attrition Recruitment Program.
Western Visayas has 260 quota allocations to replenish the ranks of police force here due to retirement, death, resignation and dismissal from service of several personnel.
PRO 6 started accommodating applicants since September 1, 2008 and will tentatively end on December 1, 2008 with the oath-taking of successful applicants.
The recruitment process will subject the applicants to agility test, neuro-psychiatric test, drug test, medical/dental examinations, and panel interview.
PRO 6 Director, Police Chief Superintendent Isagani R. Cuevas, said the number of applicants indicates that police service is one of the most sought professions in the country.
"Every recruitment, thousands of applicants try their luck," he disclosed adding "with limited quota we go for the best and the brightest."
Applicants for police service are graduates of various degrees, such as Bachelor of Science in Criminology, Education, Accountancy, Management, Nursing, Bachelor of Arts, among others.
Qualified applicants will be appointed on temporary status for a year. They will undergo Police Basic Recruit Course at Regional Training School 6, Mansilingan, Bacolod City for 6 months, Field Training Program for another 6 months and PNP modified Special Counter-Insurgency Operations Unit Training for 45 days.
The top cop earlier rebuffed the 'grease money' issue following the arrest of Robert Borja Senining, who was the subject of several complaints for extortion victimizing PNP applicants.
"I warn our applicants not to course their applications through anybody who introduces himself or herself as 'fixer'," Cuevas said, "instead visit our Regional Personnel and Human Resource Development Division to submit their requirements."
Cuevas also enjoined applicants who have been victims of extortion to report to the police for assistance and proper action. (F. Lindero Jr.)
