STIs rampant in Capiz, IPHO reports
ROXAS CITY – Capiz Integrated Provincial Health Office (IPHO) has recorded a total of 182 persons afflicted with sexually transmitted infections (STI) prompting the said office to raise the alarm bells especially among the male populace.
Dr. Evelyn Bolido, IPHO medical specialist, said that the increase in STI cases is due to the proliferation of videoke bars and beer houses in Roxas City and some parts of the province.
Bolido said of the total figure, 69 cases had been recorded in Roxas City, 24 cases in Mambusao and the rest come from other towns of Capiz.
She advised men not to have sex with commercial sex workers and be faithful to their wives.
It can be observed that commercial sex workers proliferate in the city's videoke bars and beer houses at night. Some of them, according to sources, come from as far as Iloilo and Bacolod cities.
