College scholarship up for grand winner in environmental slogan tilt
ISABELA -- Representative Ignacio "Iggy" Arroyo, Jr. of the 5thDistrict of Negros Occidental yesterday offered another reward to anyone in his district who will be chosen as the lucky winner in the poster and slogan contest in line with environmental awareness program next month.
This reward will be in a form of college scholarship for any high school students from both public and private secondary schools in the 5thDistrict.
Arroyo, author of the newly passed Environment Awareness Bill, has been roaming around his district, campaigning in all schools to simply be aware about taking care of the environment to help save the Mother Earth.
Last week, the solon visited three major high schools – the Hinigaran National School, Tinongan National High School and Isabela National School.
The solon encouraged the students to dispose their garbage properly and be knowledgeable in waste management so they could live in a cleaner community.
But to drum up his environmental campaign in the 5thdistrict, Arroyo announced to the students both in Hinigaran and Isabela town that next month, his office will be launching a poster and slogan contest among high school students.
The top winner, he said, will receive a college scholarship to be funded by his congressional office.
Arroyo then encouraged all the school principals to select their best students in joining the said contest.
The schools he visited were Hinigaran National High School, Tinongan Elementary and High School and Isabela National High School.
