Capiz spices up 'Sabado nights' with dance extravaganza
ROXAS CITY – Every Saturday night a dance extravaganza is being held at the Capiz Provincial Park here as part of the 1stCapiz Dance Season.
The dance season dubbed "Saot Capiz" was launched last September 27 as part of the first Capiz Tourism Week Celebration from Sept. 21 to 27 and will be conducted every Saturday evening until December 27.
The sundown activity is a collaborative effort of the provincial government through its Provincial Tourism Office and the National Commission for Culture and the Arts (NCCA).
Capiz Tourism Officer Alfonsus Tesoro said that the show aims to document Capiznon dances and establish Capiz Provincial Park as an alternative performance venue and artists' village.
The other performing dance groups that will be featured in the coming Saturdays at the Provincial Park include Tapaz Cultural and Performing Arts (TCPA), Colegio dela Purisima Concepcion (CPC) High and CPC Dance Troupe, Filamer Christian College (FCC) Dance Troupe, Capiz State University (CapSU) Main Dance Troupe, Hugyaw Dance Troupe of CapSU Burias, Mambusao campus, Tribu Kasaydahan of Pilar, Caguyuman Dance Troupe of Pontevedra, Sapian Dance Troupe, and Sinadya Dance Troupe of the Department of Education (DepEd) - Roxas City Division.
The dance season will culminate with a "Grand Binayle" on Dec. 30. (PIA/A.Lumaque)
