Capitol SP mulls re-shuffling of committee structure
Committee chairmanships and vice-chairmanships in the 9th Iloilo Sanggunian Panlalawigan (SP) are expected to see changes anytime soon.
This, following a proposed Resolution amending the composition of various standing committees here.
The News Today (TNT) in a report gathered that among those included in the plan are 15 of the 26 committees starting off with the Committee on Appropriations.
Current Appropriations chair is Vice Governor Rolex Suplico with First District Board Member Oscar "Richard" Garin Jr. as vice-chair.
Also expecting revisions are the committees on Education and Information, Science and Technology, Agriculture and Aquatic Resources. Further still, amendments are sought in the committees Economic Affairs and Investment, Culture, Arts, History and Tourism, Infrastructure, Health and Sanitation, Barangay Affairs, Labor and Employment.
Changes are likewise pushed in the composition of Committee on Cultural Communities and the Underprivileged, Youth Affairs and Sports Development, Rules, Privileges, Ethics and Accountability, Committee on Justice, Good Government and Human Rights, Committee on Public Order and Security and Committee on Transportation and Communication.
The Resolution as proposed cited the need for a committee re-shuffling given the change in the membership of the SP.
"….particularly with reference to the Ex-Officio Members: the Panlalawigang Pederasyon ng Sangguniang Kabataan (PPSK) President, Liga ng mga Barangay President and the Provincial Federation of Sanggunian Bayan Members (PFSBM) President," excerpts of the proposed Resolution went.
With the change in committee structure, the 9th SP further aim to achieve improved efficiency and effectiveness. Such alongside the desire "of obtaining the consensus of all the members in the designation to the different standing committees in order to foster harmonious working relationship, professional background in the various fields of interest of every member....," the proposed Resolution added while stressing, "…with the end view of complete and lawful discharge of its legislative mandate, there is a necessity to complete the chairmanship, vice-chairmanship and membership of each and every committee."
