Reorganized PPP Aklan Chapter vows more projects

The reorganized chapter in Aklan of the Press Photographers of the Philippines (PPP), a broad alliance of photojournalists in the country, has vowed more projects and activities this year.
This was announced by internationally renowned and multi-awarded photojournalist Jo Haresh Tanodra, who was elected president of the reorganized PPP after all positions of the chapter was declared vacant in a meeting called for by PPP National President Jerry Carual.
He replaced founding president George Cawaling in a well-attended reorganizational meeting at Kusina sa Kalibo last Monday, October 13, 2008.
Carual, who talked to the members of PPP-Aklan via phone, had asked them to continue with all their laudable programs aimed at promoting fellowship and camaraderie among its members as well as in professionalizing the photography industry with the main objective of upholding freedom of the press and the dignity of the photojournalists' profession.
He cited the chapter's outstanding performance and described PPP Aklan as one of the "Best Performing Chapters" in the entire country.
Carual even adds that other PPP chapters nationwide looked up at PPP-Aklan chapter being a pacesetter in raising public awareness on the importance of being proactive in times of disasters and calamities.
He said there should be no way that the current and future projects of PPP-Aklan should be halted with the non-performance of some officers to ensure the attainment of noble objectives of the organization.
"Keep up the good work and see to it that nobody can hamper your worthwhile projects and endeavors," he noted.
Also elected in the executive positions were Noel Cabobos of WV Explorer, vice president; Mario Balandra of WV Explorer, secretary; and Jessie Reyes of Panay News, treasurer.
Composing the Board of Directors are Past President George Cawaling of I-Travel News as chairman and the following members: Winston Carillo (Birada Newsweekly), Gary Vargas (Kalibo Cable), Nixon Carillo (Eagle Printing & Publishing), Jun Aguirre (Birada Newsweekly), Edwin Ramos (PIA), Bambam Luces (Panay News), Sumra dela Cruz (Aklan Reporter), Eric Nepomuceno (Lucky Photo & Colorlab), Sajid Pelayo (NVC Forum), and freelance photojournalist Recto Vidal.
