Police arrest lady gun runner
Police yesterday recovered five firearms from a woman who is allegedly into gun running activities. The suspect was arrested in yesterday's entrapment operation in Burgos Street, City Proper.
The suspect identified as Evelyn Lico of Barangay Barogo, Surigao del Sur, reportedly was also arrested for the same offense several years ago.
Recovered from her possession were four .38 caliber revolvers Smith and Wesson (homemade) without serial numbers and one .45 caliber pistol Colt M1911A-1 (homemade) with serial number 144310.
Lico was arrested by the joint team of the Iloilo City Mobile Group (ICMG) Special Operations Group led by Senior Inspector Ronaldo Palomo, Regional Headquarters Service Group (RHSSG) and Regional Intelligence Division (RID) when she delivered the firearms to a police officer who acted as poseur buyer.
Police said the firearms came from Danao City in Cebu. The .38 pistol is sold at P2,300 each while the .45 caliber is sold at P12,000.
The suspect is now detained at the lock up cell of the Police Precinct 1 pending the filing of criminal complaint against her for violation of PD 1866 as amended by RA 8294 (Gun Running).
Police said Lico is not a member of any gunrunning syndicate and she was alone during the entrapment.
