Half-day transaction at city hall on Friday
To give enough time for city hall employees to visit their loved ones who are buried in cemeteries outside Iloilo City, business transactions at the Iloilo City hall on Friday will only be half-day.
Mayor Jerry Treñas said business transactions at the city hall will only be until 12 noon. The half-day operation will not only be beneficial to the city hall employees but also to those who are transacting at the city hall. Each local government unit is given the leeway to decide.
October 31 is declared as regular working holiday. However, the chief executive decided to call for a half-day transaction at the city hall. The people are already busy preparing for the All Saints Day and All Souls Day, he said.
All Souls Day is now a feast of the universal church. Prior to the All Souls Day, people are busy preparing and cleaning the graves, mausoleums, preparing the traditional sticky foods and buying flowers and candles.
The Chinese nationals offered fruits and other stuff in commemorating their faithful departed. Flowers and candles are offered by the living persons to the dead other than prayers or requiem masses.
The mayor said he wants to inform those planning to transact business at the city hall on the working hours this Friday this early. He wishes to relay the half-day basis operation in order not to burden those individuals to finish whatever business concerns they have at the city hall.
