PopCom gives RPM funding
ROXAS CITY – The Commission on Population (PopCom) regional office has turned over a check worth P206,000.00 to the Capiz provincial government last October 27 in a turn-over ceremony at the Provincial Capitol here as partial release for the Responsible Parenting Movement (RPM) program in the province.
The amount was received by Capiz Gov. Victor A. Tanco, Sr. who expressed gratitude and appreciation to the PopCom during the ceremony.
"The amount will be used by in the provincial RPM initiatives to empower families through responsible parenthood by making couples aware of their basic responsibilities as parents," Tanco said in a local radio interview.
During the ceremony, PopCom Regional Director Vicente Molejona also turned over a check worth P120,000.00 for the Roxas City's population office.
Molejona has introduced the movement in the province as early as March 2007 during the 3rd general assembly of the Capiz Federation of Advocates on Population Management and Reproductive Health.
The Provincial Population Office (PPO) headed by Francisco Fuentes, Jr. has also created a provincial RPM Task Force to conduct training at its municipal level counterpart for the eventual conduct of RPM classes.
"The funding will be utilized for the RPM programs and campaigns to mobilize couples to become conscientious and trustworthy parents who would nurture their children to become law abiding citizens," said a Provincial Population Office (PPO) press release.
RPM also aims to awaken the parents' sense of responsibility and commitment towards their family, neighbors, community, society and nation as a whole towards the attainment of sustainable human development. (PIA/PPO)
