Kabankalan marks Children's Month celebration
Guest speaker on the Children's Month celebration held in Kabankalan City on Oct. 30 was Mayor Marxlen Laurence dela Cruz of Don Salvador Benedicto.
The program was held at the city plaza after the parade participated in by hundreds of pre-schooler children coming from the different day care centers in the 32 barangays in the city.
Mayor De la Cruz said he is very appreciative of Kabankalan City for its various programs geared to develop its children. The day care centers are good training grounds for our pre-schoolers as they move on to primary level, he said.
Cyril Ramos of the CSWD-Kabankalan said that at present the city has 163 day- care centers catering to three to six years old and 15 Early Child Development Centers serving those below three years old.
Other speakers were SP member Joan Cagape, chair on social services; Vice Mayor Delia Anacan, Adelina Tomaro, city social welfare and development officer and Mayor Pedro Zayco, Jr. and Mayor Pedro Zayco, Jr. who quoted a Bible verse that says "Train up the child in the way he should go, for when he is old enough, he will not depart away from it".
Reah Jane Dumaguete and Martin Clyde Alabe, Jr. from Brgy. Tampalon were declared winners in the search for the Fairy Tale King and Queen 2008, from among the 27 day-care centers in 27 barangays. They were proclaimed by Dexter John Pahilango.
The coronation program was held at the K-Center with an inspirational message from Board Member Raul Rivera who explained the message of celebration's theme, "Bright Child: Sa Tamang Pag-aaruga, Kinabukasan ay Maginhawa." (Eddie M. Yap)
