2-day Coop Month celebration in Sapian starts today
SAPIAN, Capiz – Today marks the start of the 16th Provincial Cooperative Month Celebration to kick off with a motorcade along the main thoroughfares of this town, Mayor Arturo "Turic" Orosco, Sr. said.
Orosco, who is the host of the yearly celebration, said that he invited local and national folks as well as foreigners to buy products at the One-Town-One Product (OTOP) trade fair.
Expected to participate in the trade fair are 16 municipalities including Roxas City that will showcase products from their respective places.
"We are inviting people from all walks of life to buy products from the trade fair," Orosco said adding that different municipalities will showcase their products.
Expected to be present during the affair who will deliver their messages are Orosco himself, Gov. Victor Tanco, Sr., 1st district Cong. Antonio del Rosario, 2nd district Cong. Fredenil Castro, and Undersecretary Lorelei Castañeda Fajardo, Presidential Assistant for Central Luzon and Deputy Spokesperson of Malacañang, among others.
In the afternoon, a raffle draw will follow and awarding of winners for the participating municipalities.
Earlier, Orosco vowed to promote local tourism and make a fiesta atmosphere during the celebration of he Cooperative Month here November 4-5.
Orosco told The News Today (TNT) that the municipal government will shell out P500,000 purposely for the affair.
He said, there are also pledges coming from Capiz Gov. Victor Tanco, Sr. in the amount of P200,000; 2nd District Congressman Fredenil Castro, P150,000; Vice Gov., Felipe Barredo, P50,000 and Roxas City Mayor Vicente Bermejo, P50,000.
