Hundreds of college studes get Garin school aid
A total of 320 college students enrolled in various city colleges and universities received yesterday checks for educational assistance from First District Representative Janette Loreto-Garin.
The distribution was witnessed by First District Board Member Mac Napulan in a jampacked session hall of the Iloilo Provincial Capitol.
Dubbed the "Garin scholars," the students each received a check worth P1,000 as continued help from the lady solon.
The educational assistance has since been realized when Garin began her first term in office.
Yesterday's distribution also saw a number of parents who came all the way from various First District towns.
Representative Garin used the opportunity to speak about the need for the passage of Reproductive Health Bill. This alongside her plea for comprehension of the Bill's real intent and not the misconceptions hounding the program.
"Education is our greatest tool against poverty. Importante nga tanan kita may opportunidad nga maka-eskuela (It is important that everyone is given the opportunity to study) This is one priority in my many priorities for the First District for I know and strongly believe that the best investment we can ever have is in our youth. It may not be a big amount but the educational assistance is aimed at helping each and every one of our students and their families," Garin said.
