Mondejar leads call for SP deferment of '09 budget report
Mondejar
Legislative action on the committee report regarding the 2009 Executive Budget has been deferred.
This, following the motion of Second District Board Member June Mondejar seeking additional time to study and pore over the committee's findings.
The 2009 Executive Budget went through deliberation by the Committee on Appropriation chaired by Vice Governor Rolex Suplico. The vice governor presented the committee's findings during Monday's special session.
The News Today (TNT) learned that over P1 billion in proposed expenditures next year were approved by the committee. However, Suplico took note of purported violations committed in various appropriations.
Mondejar won over the SP body in the call for deferment
Members of the 9th Iloilo Sanggunian Panlalawigan (SP) convene today for a special session with the yet to be 'deciphered' 2009 Executive Budget at the center of deliberations.
The 505-paged 2009 Proposed Executive Budget had exclusion of some current expenditure alongside the inclusion of "reincarnated" items.
Meantime, some 180 job hires are feared to be excluded in next year's budget with the appropriation scrapped by the committee.
These "job hires" are assigned in parks and grounds, Bantay-Dagat and the Office of the Governor among others.
