3 KFR men spotted in La Paz are IRC inmates: Source
Three members of the alleged Kidnap for Ransom (KFR) group spotted in one of the subdivisions in La Paz recently have pending cases and are actually detainees of the Iloilo Rehabilitation (IRC) in Barangay Nanga, Pototan, Iloilo.
A reliable source said the suspected members of the KFR group have pending cases for kidnapping and robbery before the Iloilo Regional Trial Court. The trial of the cases filed against them is still on going.
To recall, more than a year ago former IRC warden retired Sr. Supt. Juan Mabugat discovered a plan to rescue the suspects while on their way to attend a hearing at the Iloilo Hall of Justice.
The names of the inmates are held pending verification from Iloilo Police Provincial Office (IPPO) Director Sr. Supt. Ricardo de la Paz.
The names of the three suspects are contained in a raw intelligence report.
The same report did not identify the specific subdivision nor contain details on when was the group sighted.
Moreover, the source said, it could not be ascertained how the three suspects were able to get out of the IRC as the cases slapped against them are non-bailable.
Earlier, Iloilo City Police Office (ICPO) OIC Director Sr. Supt. Bartolome Tobias said they are still verifying the alleged presence of members of a KFR group in Iloilo City. He did not confirm the names of the three inmates.
Meanwhile, Mayor Jerry Treñas urged the public to be on alert in view of the report on the alleged presence of a KFR group in the city preying on affluent members of the Filipino-Chinese community.
The source said the report on the presence of a KFR group stirred the members of the affluent members of the business community. They have exercised their own security measures in protecting themselves from the group.
