Fr. Sequito laid to rest today
Reverend Father Ramon B. Sequito will be laid to rest today in his hometown, Barotac Viejo, Iloilo as hundreds are expected to pay their last respects.
A 9 a.m. funeral mass will be held at the town's parish set to be attended by fellow priests of the Jaro Archdiocese
particularly peers who marked 25th year in the priesthood.
Father Sequito's passing continued to bring shock and grief to a close-knit community of Catholic faithful in Oton, Iloilo, his last pastoral assignment. He was off to a new assignment in northern Iloilo town of Balasan yet succumbed to a fatal heart attack on the very day of his scheduled transfer.
The five-day wake saw countless of mourners from all walks of life brought together by the spiritual guidance of Father Sequito.
Thursday and Friday had the wake and viewing at the Oton Parish while Saturday saw the transfer of Father Sequito's remains to the Vianney Center of the St. Vincent Ferrer Seminary in Jaro District, Iloilo City.
And yesterday, Father Sequito was back home to where he grew up in a family home in Barotac Viejo. He was brought home early afternoon in a motorcade of supporters and welcomed by townmates with a Holy Mass.
The Balasan pastoral assignment would have been the first for Father Sequito as Parish Priest. His previous assignments had him as assistant parish priest at the same time spiritual director of various Church-based organizations.
