Meat inspector apologizes over 'hot meat' issue
BACOLOD CITY -- Meat Inspector II Oscarlito Limos yesterday asked apology to City Legal Officer Atty. Allan Zamora for any shortcomings he made for not issuing an "order of condemnation" when the Task Force Botagoy apprehended several kilos of "hot meat" in Barangay Bata last week.
In his three pages letter-reply to the Memorandum issued by Atty. Zamora last Nov. 10, 2008, Limos admitted that he has no knowledge and information in so far as the enforcement of City Ordinance 459.
"I would like to apologize for any shortcomings I have and would like to take this opportunity to say sorry for the inconvenience that I may have done. This is due to lack of information and knowledge in so far as the enforcement of City Ordinance 459 is concerned," Limos lamented.
Limos further said that last week he was designated to act as temporary city veterinarian in lieu of City Veterinarian Dr. Adelo Daroy but he defended that his duty for two days is limited only for three markets as stated in his memorandum.
He also added that he did not issue Condemnation Order or Certificate of Confiscation due to humanitarian reason.
"The meat vendor is pleading for consideration and asking for a little time to comply with the regulations," he said.
Limos likewise reiterated that he is not aware of the set-up and procedure mandated by City Ordinance 459, considering that it is the City Veterinarian who handles this matter since the start of operation of the new slaughterhouse.
Earlier, The composite enforcement unit along with the City Veterinary Office assigned at Burgos Public Market invited him to the satellite market of Brgy. Bata and identified unbranded meat displayed in several meat stands in the area.
