PCL-Bacolod to hold First Music Festival
BACOLOD CITY -- Sangguniang Panglungsod (SP) Member Homer Bais, chairman of the Committee on Tourism, announced yesterday that the Philippine Councilors League-Bacolod Chapter will hold the First Bacolod City Music Festival to be participated by various choir groups in the City of Bacolod with the theme "Christmas Carol Choir Competition."
Bais said that the Bacolod Tourism Office is now accepting entries from choir groups and the registration is for free.
He said the Elimination Period will start on Nov. 30, 2008 and will end on Dec. 6, 2008. The Grand Final Night of this Music Festival is scheduled on Dec. 20, 2008.
Bais said that the PCL thought of holding this Music Festival so that the Bacoleños will be entertained this Yuletide season despite difficulties and problems that arose within the community.
"It is one way to celebrate Christmas as a gift to everyone and to let the Bacoleños enjoy in the midst of political division," Bais added.
All interested choir groups should register their entries at the Bacolod Tourism Office and look for Art Madrigal, artistic festival director of the 1st Bacolod City Music Festival.
Bais further said that the mechanics or criteria in this competition are: the choir groups should have a minimum of 25 to 50 members; any form of single or mixed members are allowed; live band is also allowed during the finals night.
Bais said the champion in this competition will receive P30,000 plus trophy. The second prize winner will receive P20,000; while third placer will receive P15,000. Fourth Prize will receive P10,000 and the Firth to the 10th placer will receive P5,000 each.
