Underground call center
Attention Department of Trade and Industry (DTI) regional director Dominic Abad. A call center here in the city is reportedly operating without the necessary business permits. Actually, a complaint has already been filed in your office with regard to the underground/illegal operation of a call center here. But it seems the complaint has been unacted as the illegal call center continues its operation up to this day. Please act on it sir in fairness to other businesses that comply with the requirements set for their operation.
No moral ascendancy
The scandal rocking Chris Montaño of the Commission on Human Rights (CHR) definitely tainted not only his personality but also the office he works for. Ironically, he is in-charge of the CHR's Advocacy for the Rights of Women and their Children, so having him charged of having an illicit affair with a married woman makes him unfit for the position. He does not have moral ascendancy, so to speak. Perhaps, CHR regional director Atty. David Bermudo could give this man a lesson pronto!
Delayed Dinagyang practice
Tribe managers of various groups joining the Dinagyang tribes competition warned of a not so spectacular performance next year. Why? Because many of them have not yet started practicing although it is already mid-November. The delay in the signing of the memorandum of agreement (MOA) between the city government and the Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation Inc. (IDFI) is the culprit. The city council actually caused the delay as, for the first time, they extensively scrutinized IDFI's financial dealings. Because of the delay initial funds could not be released to the tribe managers which they could have used to start their practice. Try roaming around the city at night and you will not find a single tribe practicing. Unlike in previous years when drumbeats could already be heard as early as September.
