2 of 3 suspects in Fil-Chinese teener slay fall
ROXAS CITY – Two of the three suspects who robbed a Chinese businesswoman and killed her daughter fell to the hands of authorities after massive manhunt operations.
Police investigator SPO1 Cornelio Acielo identified the suspects as Florante Vergara y Nepomuceno, 19, of Estancia, Iloilo, who is tagged as a prime suspect, and Jonathan Patiño y Lemoste, 29, of Rizal, Sagay Negros Occidental, who allegedly served as a look out.
Both Vergara and Patiño were said to be the newly-hired helpers of the Weng family.
Acielo said the duo were positively identified by security guard Raffy Aninacion, 21, of Cagay this city after they were presented to him at the lock-up cell of the Roxas City police station.
Last November 18 at around 9:00 p.m. the suspects together with Isidro Tolitol, the truck driver, barged into the house of businesswoman Letty Weng. The businesswoman and her 16-year old daughter Vina tried to fight the suspects but they were overpowered and the suspects were able to cart away P50,000 afterwhich they fled.
Both victims sustained multiple contusions, abrasions and hematoma due to the hard objects used to struck them.
The younger Weng, however, was declared dead on arrival by attending physicians while her mother was hospitalized at St. Anthony College Hospital.
Tolitol, the other principal suspect, is still being hunted by the police.
