Extra cash gift, payment for electricity get huge portion of P73M Supplemental Budget
The city government has allocated huge portion of its P73,490,929.08 proposed Supplemental Budget Number 5 for the payment of extra cash gift for officials and employees of the city government and for payment of the city's electric bills.
In the proposed supplemental budget prepared by Mayor Jerry Treñas for the approval of the Sangguniang Panglungsod, P23,670,000 is appropriated for the extra cash gifts of employees and another P25,000,000 for the electricity expense (deficiency 2008).
Employees and officials of the city government will receive P15,000 each as extra cash gift. The proposed budget was presented before the body for approval in its regular session.
In the same proposed supplemental budget, the city appropriated P8,127,600 for additional allowances to national government personnel from the period of October to November 2008.
The P8,127,600 additional allowances is divided among the police service, traffic police, BJMP City Jail, BJMP District Jail, Fire Service, Crime Laboratory and PASCOM.
The City Internal Affairs Services, Regional Internal Affairs Services, City Register of Deeds, DILG City Director, Comelec Registrar, MTCC Judges, Clerk of Court, RTC Judges, City Prosecutors, State Prosecutors, elementary and secondary school teachers are also given the allocation for their additional allowances.
The amount of P6,120,000 is also allocated as financial assistance for the barangay chairman for P4,000 each and P3,000 for barangay officials. The P1.5 million city's donation to the Iloilo Dinagyang Foundation Inc. (IDFI) is likewise included in the proposed SB No. 5.
The city also appropriated P5,806,584 for the payment of hazard pay of public health workers and P1 million for the social development component of the improvement and development of Calajunan disposal site.
For the improvement and rehabilitation of Jaro Big Market, the city appropriated an amount of P700,000. An appropriation of P336,000 is also included in the procurement of firearms for the use of the Philippine National Police; P100,000 aid to Philippine National Red Cross; P700,000 for the proposed construction of Bulilit Day Care Center stage at Washington, Jaro;
The other appropriations in SB No. 5 are the P100,000 additional fund for the Traffic Technical Working Group; P25,000 remittance of the contribution for calendar year 2008 for the annual best projects award and P310,317 capital outlay for the office of Vice Mayor Jed Mabilog.
The more than P73 million proposed supplemental budget is also appropriated for representation expenses of the chief executive in the amount of P300,000; P123,627 capital outlay for City Auditor's Office, P34,000 capital outlay for the City Treasurer's Office, financial assistance to the City Prosecutor's Office for its office supplies expense for P1,625 and P36,317 overtime/night pay of the Sangguniang Panlungsod.
