Sigma SB member finally resigns
SIGMA, Capiz – The controversial Sangguniang Bayan (SB) member of this town, who had been absent for several months, finally resigned from his post last November 15.
Vice Mayor Victoria "Betty" Quirao told The News Today (TNT) that SB member Cleo Jude Joaquin tendered his irrevocable resignation for personal reasons.
"He decided to resign sot that all insinuations against him will be cleared," Quirao said.
Quirao said Joaquin delivered his farewell message during the session on Wednesday.
Joaquin, a member of the Lakas-CMD party, is an ally of Quirao in the last election. The ruling party in Sigma, is yet to announce who will assume the vacancy left by Joaquin.
Joaquin became controversial after he filed a leave of absence of almost six months where it was later found out that he left for Saudi Arabia.
He was able to get back in the regular session this month of November after he was called by the Quirao and Mayor Maria Andaya to fulfill his duty.
However, Joaquin incurred again another four absences this month of November where he later opted to resign from his post.
Based on the SB internal rules, an SB member who commits four consecutive absences shall be expelled.
