Flood Mitigation Committee starts clearing of roads and waterways
BACOLOD CITY -- The Bacolod City government is now halfway with various activities lined up relative to the clearing of roads and waterways in an effort to curb flooding in the city.
The city government, through the Flood Mitigation Committee headed by Councilor Roberto Rojas, is serious in its objective to free the city from flood during the rainy season.
The committee had already started the cutting and uprooting of trees in Purok Pepsi, Brgy. Bata. Acacia trees at the intersection in Purok Pepsi had been pruned and coconut trees were cut.
The roadside was also excavated to widen the arc sign bearing the names of Bata and Brgy. Bata officials. Three signboards with concrete foundation had been pulled out and a steel frame signboard had been transferred to clear the roads.
In Bata and Banago Creek, the committee started the desilting and widening of waterways and the clearing of garbage.
Further, the committee also initiated the clearing and desilting of creek including the open canal beside Carmelite to the front of Robinsons Bacolod and the underground drainage at Lacson Street in Barangay Mandagalan.
The committee also cleared the open canal in Barangay 17 and desilted the creeks in Brgy. Banago.
