Supplier starts installing furnitures at NGC
BACOLOD CITY – Comfac Corporation, winning supplier of the furnitures and fixtures for the New Government Center (NGC), has started installing filing cabinets, office chairs, tables and other amenities in preparation for the grand opening of the NGC set on December 16, 2008.
This was confirmed yesterday by Mr. Butch Ebreo newly designated NGC Building Administrator.
Ebreo said the furnitures started arriving last Wednesday and the delivery is expected to be completed today.
Last Saturday, the supplier had already delivered some furnitures to the Vice Mayor's Office, Sangguniang Panglungsod offices, BAC Office, City Population Office, City Budget and UBSP Office.
Ebreo further assessed that 70 percent of the total furnitures and fixtures had already been delivered to the New Government Center and the remaining 30 percent will be completed today.
Earlier, Bids and Awards Committee Chairman Atty. Goldwyn Nifras said that based on their BAC Schedule of Activities, the delivery of all furnitures and fixtures will end December 6, 2008, and any delay thereof, the supplier will pay a liquidated damages in favor of the City Government.
Nifras is very optimistic that the supplier could meet the prescribed schedule of delivery and installation based on the schedule.
On the other hand, Ebreo elaborates that after December 7, 2008, all departments at the old city hall can now move-in to the New Government Center because Mayor Evelio Leonardia expects that the full blast operation of the NGC will begin on December 16, 2008.
He emphasized that the Local Chief Executive wants to hold a ceremonial rites in the morning of December 16, 2008 and all departments could use their offices after the simple rites.
