Namets held its premiere at Bacolod recently. This is a film directed by a Negrense, Jay Abellardo who is from Silay City, a city that is known for its lip smacking delicacies.
The title Namets was derived from an Ilonggo word "namit" which means delicious.
Palanca Award winner Vicente Groyon, who wrote the script said, "Namets is a colorful celebration of food as well as love, and the love of food above all, which is central to being Negrosanon, and being Filipino. Every region in the Philippines has a cuisine unique to it, and the island of Negros is no exception."

The story is about love and food, Jacko (Christian Vasquez) and Cassie (Angel Jacob) are both Negrense chefs and their lives revolve around food.
The language of the film is Ilonggo and almost all of its cast and crew are Negrense (Peque Gallaga, Monsour del Rosario, Joel Torre, John Arceo, Vicente Groyon, Christian Vasquez, among others). The movie is full of humor and it's like having a tour in Negros.
Namets! will premiere at the 2008 Cinemalaya Philippine Independent Film Festival, to be held at the Cultural Center of the Philippines from July 11 to 20, 2008.

It will be shown in Iloilo on Dec. 1 to 6, 2008 at SM Cinema 7 and in Cebu on Dec. 6, 8 and 10, 2008 at the Ayala Cinema 4 of Ayala Center Cebu.
