The Prince of leadership
"Always achieve excellence in everything that you do. And do bear in mind that excellence without a soul is an empty thing that would not lead you to where you want to go"
Prince Juliene Hermaine Celo,
Marketing Client Relations Officer.
Prince Julien Hermien Celo. He is better known by everybody as simply Prince. But Prince is far from being simple. He is undoubtedly an achiever. His aura practically exudes this.
Prince Celo is a graduate of Bachelor of Arts in Mass Communication at St. Paul University Iloilo in the year 2006. In his college years, he had been consistently a part of the college's set of officers called the College of Arts and Sciences Circle (CASC) and he held the presidency in his fourth year. He is born a passionate leader, a role model, hard worker and dedicated to what he is doing. Beneath all these seemingly serious traits, he is a humorous, light-hearted and definitely a fun person to be with. He has a friendly nature that makes him stand out among others.
When asked what, so far, is his biggest achievement, he says that it is becoming the youngest marketing officer at St. Paul's Hospital Iloilo. He started this job back when he was still 21 years old, just a fresh graduate. He is glad to be given a chance like this and he thanks his media exposure back in his college years and his previous job in a TV network.

KM: Where did you finish your elementary and high school?
Prince: I was under a Dominican owned school during my elementary and my secondary education. I studied at Mary Immaculate Academy. It was my elementary and high school mentors who trained me how to achieve excellence and how to value leadership. I was really pampered by the sisters and my teachers then. They really thought me the importance of making shrewd decision coupled with loyalty, sincerity and respect.

KM: Were you an achiever?
Prince: Achiever? I guess I am (Hahahah!), if achievement is defined as something which sets you apart from others. Since then I am really into public speaking and Campus Leadership. I declaim, orate, impersonate and I am also a member of the school's debating team.
KM: In college you were part of the circle of student officers. Was it really part of your plan to be involved?
Prince: Well, I was an officer from elementary to high school. So I was not surprised if my personal desire to continue my leadership career in college continued. Being a student leader is something that I personally like. It gives me a lot of fulfillment seeing my fellow students and my mentors getting satisfied with my job is something which really makes me happy.

KM: You did it with so much passion. Why is this?
Prince: As I said, leadership is really my thing, and I guess the logic here is so simple. Love what you're doing and do it with so much passion and never give up. Believe me, you will end up triumphant.
KM: How were you able to juggle your work as a student leader and school?
Prince: I make sure that my responsibilities as a student leader will not, in any way, affect my studies. It's just a matter of time management. Though, sometimes you really have to choose between responsibilities and studies, but my St. Paul University mentors like Ms. Jieza, my adviser in the council, Ms. Leng Hubag, my coordinator and a confidant, and Ms. Tricia, my class adviser, made it really easy by helping me to carry out every detail of what I am assigned to do, I really owe them a lot.
KM: There's this thing called pressure. How were you able to handle this?
Prince: Pressures are everywhere; they will either make you better or worse. But for my 4 years of struggle I can say that I won over those stuffs. And now that I'm working, still pressure will always be there. But don't you just love to" wrestle" with them? Pressures are fun to deal with. They will make you more productive. Just learn to deal with them.
KM: How different are the pressures in school and work?
Prince: Well, pressures from school and work seem the same but the difference was that pressures from work are taken more maturely. I mean you are already professional. This means that you are more equipped to handle them. Your 4 years of college years and the rest of your experiences in school will absolutely help you to deal with all the pressures that may come your way in work.
KM: How are applying the things that you have learned in school?
Prince: Just don't forget every inch of what you have learned in school even though those two worlds are different. The important thing is that you make wise decisions based on your conscience and morality. At the end of the day it's just you and your conscience who will decide on things which will come your way.
KM: For the benefit of the graduating students, what would you like to tell them when it comes to working in the real world?
Prince: Real world is entirely different from the world where you are in right now. So value every learning given to you by your mentors at school. They will light up your way to success. Don't be afraid to learn and to apply those learning they are bound to guide you as you face the real world outside the four corners of your school. Always achieve excellence in everything that you do. And do bear in mind that excellence without a soul is an empty thing that would not lead you to where you want to go.
