All set for Darag native chicken summit
For several years now, the West Visayas State University (WVSU) has been developing the Darag Native Chicken in Western Visayas in cooperation with the Philippine Council for Agricultural and Natural Resources Research and Development (PCARRD), entrepreneurs in the province, WESVARRDEC and other institutions in the region.
Come December 8, 2008, all roads will lead to the University of the Philippines (UP) Visayas as the Western Visayas Agriculture and Resources Research and Development Consortium (WESVARRDEC) hosts the Forum on Business Opportunities on Darag Native Chicken at the Graduate and Continuing Education Building (GCEB), General Luna Street, Iloilo City.
Jointly sponsored by the WESVARRDEC and PCARRD, the forum on darag native chicken will convene breeders, potential entrepreneurs and provincial and municipal agriculture officers who seek to promote in their provinces and municipalities the breeding and marketing possibilities of the native chicken indigenous to the Panay region.
According to WESVARRDEC Consortium Director Joseph Edward Idemne, forum's lead convenor, after the years of extensive research done on darag native chicken, this consortium's initiative is proof that "the Darag team is now ready to promote the available enterprise options leading to commercialization."
