NGC furniture delivery nears completion
BACOLOD CITY – Building Administrator Reynaldo Ebreo confirmed yesterday that three more container vans from Comfac Corporation are coming to deliver furniture and fixtures for the New Government Center (NGC).
Ebreo cited the Christmas season as the cause of delay of the trip from Manila to Bacolod where fruits, spices and vegetables are loaded to ships going to the provinces.
At least 20% of delivered furniture and fixtures were already installed to various offices by the supplier's men.
"The group left the NGC early morning of Sunday to do overtime for the installation," Ebreo said.
A total of 20 container vans were packed for the NGC and 17 were already delivered or a total of 80%.
"It's nice to see the respective offices now because the room is no longer empty," Ebreo added.
There will be a joint receipt of the furniture and fixtures later in the presence of General Services Office (GSO), Management and Audit Service Office (MASO), Bids and Awards Committee (BAC) and department head concerned.
"Maybe we will invite also COA to witness the receipt for them to have an idea on the delivered items," Ebreo stressed.
Accountability Receipt of Equipment (ARE) formerly called Memorandum Receipt (MR) will be signed.
Bacolod City Mayor Evelio Leonardia who is in Las Vegas to Bacolod's adopted son Manny Pacquiao fight with Golden Boy Oscar dela Hoya, announced before he left that the target date for the city employees to transfer is December 16, 2008.
The instruction is to avoid bringing old furniture to the new edifice as the committee created led by City Administrator was tasked to study where to dispose or donate old facilities of the Old City Hall.
Acting Mayor Jude Thaddeus Sayson earlier said he preferred to give it to various schools.
"Our teachers can be a beneficiary of city hall's chairs and tables but it depends to the committee to identify," Sayson stressed.
Sayson stressed that everything must be accounted for proper turn-over because these are government properties.
Ebreo on the other hand is very optimistic to finish the installation within this week or a week before the target date as set.
