Vandals attack Suplico tarps in Northern Iloilo towns
Yet to be identified vandals struck at least four Iloilo towns with very specific targets – the tarpaulins announcing the free health program of Vice Governor Rolex Suplico.
All cut and destroyed using "very sharp instruments," the tarpaulins further notifies the public that said health program is also realized through Fifth District Board Members Jett Rojas, Jesus "JR" Salcedo and sister, Jeneda.
The vice governor decried what he said was clear "petty terrorism" though downplayed the 'attacks.'
"In all instances, my picture was cut out with a very sharp instrument. This is not mere vandalism since the deeds were done systematically and simultaneously in four towns. I got the message: it is aimed at my medical program. Be that as it may, I will continue to implement the free Hepa-B vaccination program in the 5th district. It won't be stopped by petty terrorism," Suplico said.
The free Hepa-B vaccination program has since been implemented smoothly in Northern Iloilo towns. The 'tarp-attack' happened at the height of the controversy generated by the over P23 million cash gift for Iloilo's volunteer barangay health workers.
Affected towns, the vice governor disclosed were Ajuy, Batad, Lemery and Concepcion. Interestingly enough, the four are known to be Suplico-strongholds.
Suplico in said controversy was subjected to black propaganda he blamed to have come from the camp of his uncle, Governor Niel Tupas Sr. The duo has opposing politics with non-stop Executive and Legislative squabble happening particularly in the financial operations and transaction of the Iloilo Provincial Government.
