Roxas City identifies firecrackers trade zone
ROXAS CITY – All firecracker retailers here have been confined to a single area to avoid fire accidents in the trade of firecrackers during the holiday season.
"The accredited firecracker retailers are selling their merchandise along Legaspi and Taft streets particularly at the front of the Roxas City Hall of Justice," said Senior Fire Officer 1 (SFO1) Naciancino Barroa of the Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) – Roxas City Fire Marshal.
There are more than 60 accredited firecracker retailers in the city based on the BFP – Roxas City records.
A seminar on fire safety to educate and avoid fire accidents was conducted by the firemen before the retailers had set up their firecrackers for sale, added Barroa.
An "Oplan Paalala" is also being conducted by the BFP to remind residents of possible fire hazards like Christmas lights and fire crackers during the holiday celebration.
"Oplan Paalala" is the BFP information drive reminding people to be extra cautious as fire incidents usually increase steeply in December due to the celebration of the Christmas and New Year holidays.
The fire safety consciousness campaign will be complemented by the fire truck and BFP personnel visibility from December 24 to 31. (PIA/A.Lumaque)
