BACOLOD CITY -- After the executive budget of P1.1 billion was passed last December 2008, City Mayor Evelio Leonardia has lined-up his priorities for this year 2009 looking vigorously for the success of more infrastructures projects and programs.
Leonardia noted that in the previous years “we have gained a lot of positive development in terms of projects like the construction of New Government Center, the establishment of New Slaughterhouse and other projects which give impact to Bacoleños.”
"We would like to look up the New Year with guarded optimism on the part of the city of Bacolod, our area of priorities include matters that will give impact to our people like intensifying more projects that could pave way for more employment this year," Leonardia added.
He further stressed that if more projects will be delivered to the people, it will be followed by more employment opportunities that could pump prime our economy. It was also embodied in his area of priority the so called "Poverty Alleviation" which the committee on cooperative and livelihood under Councilor Celia Flor had already started last year.
Leonardia said that the first phase of "poverty alleviation program" started last year and substantial assistance will be implemented this year.
The Local Chief Executive also announced his priorities by acquiring lands for relocation site this year as enumerated in the 2009 Annual Budget.
"Bacolod Housing Authority had a findings that almost 1,000 to 1,500 squatters is subjected to court cases and will be demolished anytime and the city has nothing to do about it but to look for relocation site," Leonardia said.
Leonardia is now rushing that all offices will be transferred to New Government Center considering that only few had vacated the old City Hall last December.
