Dinagyang organizer starts sell of tickets on Wednesday
Organizers of the 2009 Dinagyang Festival will start to sell tickets to groups or individuals who would like to avail seats at the Iloilo Freedom Grandstand on Wednesday.
In a communication sent to media, Carlos Borja, in-charge of tickets for the festival, said that tickets will be sold on a first come first served basis at P1,000 each.
Only 50 tickets will only be reserved for tourists, foreigners and balikbayans who are expected to arrive several days before the highlights on January 24 and 25.
They will be required to present their airline tickets or passports to prove that they come from outside of the country.
Meanwhile, those who would like to avail of tickets at Stage No. 2 may contact the Iloilo Provincial Capitol; Rotary Club of Iloilo for Stage No. 3 and the Philippine National Red Cross for Stage No. 4.
City tourism officer Benito Jimena said they expect a 10 percent increase in the number of visitors from last year's record.
Jimena estimated that last year the number of tourists at 30,000 but the crowd reached about a million during the three days of the festival. (PNA)
