Cuevas orders CIDG to lead probe on Aussie’s rob-slay
Orders are out from Police Chief Superintendent Isagani Cuevas, Police Regional Office (PRO) 6 director, for a top level investigation on the brutal slay of an Australian businessman here.
Tasked to do the job is the Criminal Investigation and Detection Group (CIDG) for quick case resolution on the killing of 70 year-old Werner Holz.
The hapless victim is a retired Australian police, married to an Ilongga and based in Barangay Pili, Ajuy, Iloilo.
In a report, The News Today (TNT) learned of latest investigation of the Ajuy police with leads established on the identities of the three culprits.
Holz’s attackers, probers said, gained access through the back entrance of the victim’s house. Holz’s Ilongga wife Vivian was hogtied and locked inside the bathroom.
Clearly the handiwork of an organized crime group, Cuevas told reporters with total loot of P200,000 cash, US $5,000 and hundreds of thousands more in valuables.
Cuevas ordered for a speedy resolution of the case.
Radio reports further heard the accounts of the victim’s wife who said one of the attackers even apologized for the home invasion. The wife also recalled hearing a distinct accent of one of the male culprits, all of whom were armed with a gun and knife.
Holz was stabbed at least 24 times, reports said.
