Capiz RTC Judge Fantilanan dies
ROXAS CITY – Regional Trial Court (RTC) Branch 18 Judge Charlito Fantilanan of Roxas City Hall of Justice died of cancer last Friday, January 9, at the Philippine General Hospital in Manila. He was 62 years old.
Reliable source told The News Today (TNT) that Fantilanan suffered malignant lymphoma stage 4 with infiltration of the brain and bone marrow that caused his death.
Fantilanan had been hospitalized at the Western Visayas State University Medical Center in Iloilo City from December 3 to 21 last year and he was airlifted to Manila Doctors Hospital on December 30 then transferred to PGH on January 4 this year.
Before becoming a judge, Fantilanan was a seasoned practicing lawyer and has served as Officer-in-Charge (OIC) municipal mayor in Cuartero during the martial law period.
He had been Municipal Trial Court in Cities (MTCC) judge of Branch 1 in Roxas City in 1991 before he was appointed as judge of RTC Branch 18 in 1995 up to the present. He was also appointed executive judge from 2005 up to 2007.
Fantilanan applied for an early retirement due to health reasons. His last visit to the Roxas City Hall of Justice was on November 26 last year.
He is a native Angub, Cuartero, Capiz and was born on March 8, 1946. He is married to Norma, a retired school principal with whom they were blessed with seven siblings.
