Bing vows to abide by agreement with Ceneco
BACOLOD CITY -- Mayor Evelio Leonardia vowed yesterday to abide by all legal requirements as what they have agreed last Friday with the Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) during their closed door meeting at the Bishop's Palace.
Leonardia said that the meeting last week was successfully done because it was the National Electrification Administration (NEA) which first initiated that the talks will be done in a neutral place.
Leonardia, during yesterday's regular press conference, read the contents and substance of the agreement signed by the representatives of both parties.
Included in the agreement, aside from the removal of padlock and withdrawal of closure order, is for the electric cooperative to accept payment of P8.6 million subject to reconciliation of accounts as a result of mutual agreements with the payment of balance of P1.1 million within 15 days.
On the other hand, Sangguniang Panglungsod Member Al Victor Espino said that he will act on the request of the Local Chief Executive for the said appropriation. As chairperson of the committee on finance, he also vowed that the balance of P1.1 million will be released before the deadline as embodied in their contract.
Leonardia did not elaborate yesterday the events that lead to the closure of the Ceneco Administrative Building to avoid future conflicts.
"I appeal for the people to move forward and to give positive comments so that the issues will easily be resolved," Leonardia said.
He also confirmed that the City Government through City Administrator Dr. Roger Balo is now preparing an application for the electrical connection to the New Government Center. Leonardia emphasized that the deed of donation as part of the requirement is being prepared by the City Legal Office.
He reiterated that all offices will transfer to the New Government Center after it is fully energized. The power connection installed by the Hillmarc's Construction Corporation was reconnected only last Sunday after it was disconnected by the Ceneco along with the old city hall building and the Bays Center.
