Ceneco: Brownouts not done intentionally
BACOLOD CITY -- Central Negros Electric Cooperative (Ceneco) Acting General Manager Erlo Sajo said the brownouts that occurred here on January 9 were not done intentionally.
He said, "Power trip offs normally happen and those brownouts were not done intentionally. Brownouts mean losses to us too," he said.
Sajo cited that the power feeders which experienced technical trouble included: Gonzaga Feeder No. 1 which experienced an auto trip off at around 9:25 a.m., Jan. 9, 2009. It was due to a line to ground fault; Reclamation feeder No. 2, 11:25 a.m. due to ground over current; Mountain View feeders 1, 3, 4, 1:30 p.m. due to ground over current; Gonzaga feeder No. 4 at 3:57 p.m.; Alijis feeder No. 1, 3:20 p.m. due to line to ground fault and Burgos feeder No. 2, 4:20 p.m.
Atty. Vicente Sabornay, Ceneco President said it's good that both parties came to the fore and able to thresh out differences which gotten out of bounds.
The salient points that the city and Ceneco arrived in the mediation were for the City Government of Bacolod to withdraw the closure order and restore the business permit and also to process and approve the 2009 business permit of the cooperative. That the city pays the P8.6 million and the balance of P1.1 million in 15 days from Jan. 9, 2009.
Ceneco on the other hand immediately restored power at City Hall.
Ceneco will also accept the application for electrification of the New Government Center upon its submission of deed of donation.
Ceneco also committed to pay its franchise tax for 2006 within 15 days based on distribution charge. Both parties should resolve amicably all future conflicts. This means they both observe ceasefire.
These conditions were all laid down in front of Bacolod Bishop Vicente Navarra and Fr. Mao Buenafe last Jan. 9, 2009.
Councilor Jocelle Sigue, SP Chair on Energy initiated the mediation of Bacolod Bishop on the brewing conflict of Mayor Evelio R. Leonardia, City Legal Officer Atty. Allan Zamora, representing the City of Bacolod and Ceneco President Sabornay.
