SP ‘braces’ for guv’s SOPA
Iloilo’s current and official state – in the words of Governor Niel Tupas Sr. – will be known next Tuesday.
This, as the yearly State of the Province Address (SOPA) has been scheduled on the 20th with a request already made before the 9th Iloilo Sanggunian Panlalawigan (SP).
As practiced in the past SOPAs, the day will be marked by an exclusive viewing of what the governor has to say. All other agenda of the SP are to be placed on hold.
Expected to be addressed by the governor is the seemingly never-ending fray between his office and the Legislative Department. Issues hounding the Capitol primarily focuses on the budget with no clear resolution as of yet.
The governor as in previous SOPAs will also use the occasion to highlight his administration’s accomplishments.
Vice Governor Rolex Suplico as in previous SOPAs as well will also use the same to question his uncle’s claims. The duo remains at odds over their respective politics and governance.
The SOPA request before the SP was made Thursday and likewise presented for acceptance in today’s regular session.
