Sanitation, peace and order assured inside Jaro plaza
Association of Barangay Captains (ABC) Jaro Chapter President Jonas Bellosillo assured that they will take care of the peace and order and sanitation inside the Jaro plaza as the Jaro Agro-Industrial Charity Fair started.
Bellosillo said all of the barangay captains in his district are given the responsibility to make sure everything is in place. He said the occupants inside the plaza are given the instruction to free the sidewalk of any obstruction.
He said they will follow the rules and regulation mandated over the use of plaza for a charity fair. Bellosillo said they are responsible officer and are bound to observe what is called for by an ordinance passed by the Sangguniang Panlungsod on the use of plaza.
Bellosillo said there are barangay captains who are in-charge of the auditorium, sanitation and peace and order inside the plaza. The cleanliness will be observed as each committee chairman is obliged to do the task given in respective committee.
Kiosks are situated inside the plaza selling various things such as food, liquors, household things, decorations and used clothing (ukay-ukay). Those selling household stuff and decorations came from the various parts of the country. They pay rent in occupying a place.
The association has invited the different municipal governments in Iloilo to join in the agro-industrial fair to showcase their products like food and other products. It is the association’s way of “reviving the old glory” in the holding of agro-industrial fair.
The Jaro Agro-Industrial Charity Fair is held yearly relative to the feast of the Our Lady of Candles. The feast is one celebration in the city which caught the attention not only of locals but of foreign tourists. The cock fighting is also an added attraction for the Jaro fiesta aside from the Jaro Fiesta Queen affair.
